Ethical Manpower

FSI specialises in Ethical Manpower Provision (EMP) which is the ethical recruitment, management and leadership of high quality personnel.

Why EMP?   The Scourge of Bonded Labour and the problems caused by corrupt manpower companies

Many manpower companies that send personnel for employment overseas are corrupt and routinely exploit and abuse recruits.  These agents will often provide written guarantees that they do  not take money from or exploit their recruits and they will appear to offer clients good value for money as their fees appear quite low. However, the fees charged to the client company are just the tip of the iceberg. These unethical agents make far more money by extracting large cash payments from the recruit. Often the recruit will be unable to pay these ‘fees’ and will be loaned the money at usurious rates of interest by the agent, who then uses this debt as leverage to exploit the recruit for years to come.  As a result, the recruit arrives at the project location already demoralised and de-motivated, knowing that he faces years of hard work, not to benefit his family, but to satisfy the greed of the corrupt manpower agents and the shadowy network of fixers that facilitate the cycle of exploitation. This results in poor performance and poor value for money for the client and often means that the project is infiltrated and destabilised by representatives of the manpower agent.

The FSI solution

FSI EMP offers a different, corruption free solution, which delivers and manages high quality personnel. FSI has invested significant resources in establishing its own recruitment networks. All of the recruitment staff are trusted and loyal members of the FSI team. They all understand and adhere to the principles of ethical recruitment and the FSI HQ team undertakes regular audits of the system to ensure that it remains corruption free. Also the intensive FSI interview process is conducted by British, FSI Directors who speak the relevant language of the recruits. As a consequence, no FSI recruits ever have to pay ‘fees’ to secure employment. All recruits are hired solely on merit and FSI conducts rigorous background and skills tests to ensure that they are suitable for the role they are to fulfil.

Once they have deployed to the project location, FSI remains involved in the management of the personnel to ensure that they are properly looked after. This usually includes managing their payroll to ensure that they receive 100% of their salary on time every month into a secure bank account in their home country. This allows the recruit the peace of mind that comes with knowing that their family is receiving the full benefit of their remittance and that they are properly supporting their loved ones, rather than seeing significant amounts siphoned off by the manpower agents. FSI also provides welfare and management support, which includes the provision of quick reaction assistance in their home countries in the case of a family emergency and appropriate management and discipline in their own language to ensure that any problems they may be having are solved quickly and are not allowed to develop.
